Louise's West is definitely one of the more low key bars in Lawrence, and is for sure a hidden gem. Located in a block from 6th street, nestled in a neighborhood there is a small bar no bigger than a gas station. When you walk in, there is the bar to right that takes up the entire right side, and to the back and left are booths. To the left there is a pool table, foosball and a couple arcade games. Right next to the pool table is the door leading out to the patio, where it doubles the size of the bar itself.
Louise's West is definitely an older crowd, mostly 30's and above, but there's nothing more fun than having one or two friends at this bar and just having a chill night of drinking, talking, playing pool, and having a good time. Mostly everyone in the bar is a regular, so when you first come into the bar some regulars will eventually have a conversation as to why a young person like yourself has chosen to drink at this bar. You definitely don't feel like an outcast, but just apart of the regulars for the night.
This bar is cash only, and always has the cheapest drinks. Their famous "schooners" are a chalice of beer, which equals out to about 2 and a half beers, and can get them for only $4 on Thursdays and Sundays. Mixed drinks and shots are also reasonably priced, and have as many options as any other bar in Lawrence. They also play all kinds of music to recent, to old classics.
I suggest if you're looking for a chill night of drinking with a couple friends to try out this bar. This bar will definitely be very different to what most people are used to for bars, but its nice to just have a chill night every once and a while.
